This week Domingo and I had a great week at CDI Lier! Domingo loved being out and about, and he  loved the extra attention.

Something that has been a topic of dressage discussions over the ages are bits and bridles. As of January 2019, the FEI has implemented a new rule change surrounding the use of snaffle bridles in some of the upper levels of dressage competition. So we decided to do the test on a snaffle bridle! It was  stressful as it seemed we were the only ones to test the new rule ;o) If it has infected our result is a question but I only can say that Domingo  felt a lot better and relaxed without the former mandatary double bridle. I was ending in the middle of the ranking, I could not be dissatisfied.

I’m looking forward to heading out again to the next CDI in Sint-Truiden.

A huge thank you goes to my trainers Jeanine & Jacqueline Fiechter for always being there and help me to combine my studies and horses.

A unique movie of Domingo and I, training on a sunny day.

After a three-month break due to university exams, it was a great feeling to start at the CDN in Antwerp-Schilde. It was a beautiful sunny day, so the overall conditions were fine. Although Domingo felt a bit awkward, he was in a good mood! Despite some smaller failures during the test, we achieved a score of more then 67%. Happy enough with this score! Up to the next test :-

On Sunday I took Domingo to CDN Maldegem for our second Young Riders test. We ended 2nd with 66,45 % in our first “Individual” test. Unfortunately I made a fair silly mistake in the changes every 3, and that was really costly to our score. But we had great feedback and some promising marks including several 8s. Despite this Domingo was going well and we obtained our first International selection!  I really enjoy being in the competition arena again after hard training months! Huge thank you to my trainers Jeanine & Jacqueline Fiechter for all te support!

Today we started the new season in a new level “young riders”. Domingo felt good and did a great job. We ended 1st with a result of 65,80%. Not bad for the our first official “young riders” test.

Spring is in the air. Lovely sunny, perfect training day.

Today we had the honor to visit Al Shaqab. What an experience!

Al Shaqab is Qatar foundations Equestrian centre in the State of Qatar where Arabian Horses are trained. Besides this it is the region’s leading equine education resource and features the breeding of Arabian horses. It is spread over 980.000 square metres and has a stable capacity of 400 horses.

We received a warm welcome and we had the opportunity to talk to the trainer of all these pretty Arabians, Mitchel Taff. And I must admit, Arabians are the most beautiful horses are have ever seen. Hope that I can come back to visit and maybe learn at this great location.

Great thanks to Mitchel for the illuminating talk.

Day 4 Belgian Championship

After a quick check Domingo seems a bit stiff but ok to start. We would go for it! In the Junior Freestyle we got a result of 69.425 % and 3rd place! I am blessed with a horse like Don Domingo!

We ended the Belgian Championship 2016 with a Bronze medal! Happy with the final result!
